Love and Information
Posted: August 5th, 2020
During my time in quarantine, I had the opportunity to perform as an ensemble member in Theatre Nantucket’s virtual presentation of Love and Information by Carol Churchill. Thanks to the work of my scene study teacher and director, Cameron Watson, my Saturday acting class was asked to perform a few short scenes from the play (“Wedding Video,” “Depression,” and “Random Things”), however, instead of performing them on a stage, we would be performing them from the comfort of our own homes via Zoom. Our rehearsals were held through Zoom with Cameron popping on and off camera to give us various directions. The scenes were then recorded and sent off to Theatre Nantucket to be compiled with the rest of the scenes from actors all over the country. This unique experience afforded by COVID-19 was incredibly valuable given how the entertainment industry has had to shift in response to changing health requirements It felt so fulfilling to have the opportunity to create this piece of art and collaborate with actors and theatres all over the country while still in quarantine. My class was recently told that Carol Churchill herself watched the virtual production and raved at its authenticity. She absolutely loved it. The virtual production of Love and Information will be available August 5, 12, 19 at 2pm U.S. EST and will be available for 24 hours on each of these days.
